Okoboji Game Farm, Clay County Pheasants Forever, and Polaris hosted a pheasant hunt Saturday September 25th for eight youth. The hunt was a portion of the activities organized by Special Youth Challenge Ministries, Inc. of Northwest Iowa (SYC). SYC provides all types of hunting activities for challenged youth. Deer hunts were planned at the Denny and Kathy Somers home near Webb. Many local sponsors and volunteers helped to make the outings successful for the youth and their families. Okoboji Game Farm (OGF) conducted a pheasant hunt with a mentor, volunteers, and dog handlers assisting each youth. As evidenced by the picture, each youth had a very successful hunt. Thirty-four pheasants were harvested in a short afternoon. Youth participating from left to right were Justin Nelson of Spencer, Eric Komer of Liverpool, NY, Jake Carlson of Sioux Rapids, Matt Peterson of Hartley, David Warren of Spencer, Nick Nelson of Laurens, Chad Sorenson of Dickens, and Brice Wiley of Laurens.
