2008 Spring Country Vet Gundog Challenge Okoboji Game Farm held their fourth Spring Country Vet Gundog Challenge March 8th. Just as always, the competition was fierce; the dog was work amazing. Seventeen teams competed on the brisk wintry day in either the pointer or flusher division. Each team consisted of two persons and one dog in search of five pheasants in twenty or fewer minutes. Points are earned for birds found or pointed, retrieves, birds bagged, remaining shells, and remaining time. Ted and Dave Hedlund (pictured) of Hinton with Dottie won the pointer division, while Gregg and Joel Warland with Sinder (pictured) of Fort Dodge came in a very close second. Winners of the flusher division with high points for the day were Jeremy Andreasen of Mt. Pleasant and Jordan Andreasen of Lincoln, NE with Sammy (pictured). Both are former Spirit Lake residents. Second place flusher winners were Jim Farmer of Sioux Falls and Lonnie Brandt of Spencer with Barney II (pictured). Besides plaques for the division winners, each of the participants earned door prizes. The top award, a female chocolate lab, was won by Jim Farmer. Okoboji Game Farm would like to thank Polaris for the use of the 4-wheeler and door prizes, our sponsor Country Vet Pet Foods, all of the participants and their gallery, and the outstanding judges and helpers for their part in making the Gundog Challenge a fun event! Following are the results and placings.
